Guatavita & Salt Cathedral of Zipaquirá Tour
Guatavita & Salt Cathedral of Zipaquirá Tour
Having picked you up from your chosen meeting point in Bogotá, we'll set off northbound. After a journey of 2-2.5 hours, we'll come to the beautiful town of Guatavita.
We'll set off on a 20 to 30-minute route that'll take us around this charming town, which is home to the beautiful Guatavita Lagoon. Here, we'll go on a 2-hour walk with a Spanish-speaking guide. This natural oasis is said to have been where Indigenous Peoples made offerings in honor of Chie, the goddess of water. This is also one of the places related to the popular legend of El Dorado!
After the visit to the lake, we'll spend 1 hour to 1 hour 30 minutes travelling northwest to the town of Zipaquirá. When we get there, you'll have 1 hour free to eat some lunch.
Once we've reconvened, you'll have 2 hours free to visit the famous Salt Cathedral of Zipaquirá with an audio guide in English. This impressive church is located 590 feet (180 meters) deep in the area's salt mines, exploited since the year 1801 by the local residents.
At the end of our visit, we'll hop back into our vehicle and return to the different meeting points in Bogotá. We'll drop you off after a journey of 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours.
