Explore the wildest and most rugged part of Colombia with our Colombian Amazon Villages 4-Day Tour. We'll take you to the rural villages of Puerto Nariño and Mocagua with an English–speaking guide.

Description

Day 1

We'll meet at the boardwalk of Leticia at the scheduled time, and begin our 4-day adventure through one of Colombia's densest jungles. We'll then board a boat and follow the Amazon river in comfort until we reach Puerto Nariño.

Once in Puerto Nariño, we'll take a guided tour through the most interesting parts of the town, including its green landscapes, traditional architecture, and way of life. Afterwards, we'll have a delicious dinner at the hotel and then get decked out in rubber boots and headlamps to explore the Puerto Nariño jungle. Hopefully, we'll be joined by some insects and amphibians!

At the end of our jungle expedition, we'll return to the hotel for some rest.

Day 2

Our second day will commence with a canoe ride to the Peruvian Cacao Island. As we travel through this unique natural environment, we'll discover the Amazon's different trees and their properties, as well as the distinctive features of each species. If we're lucky, we may even spot a sloth hanging from the branches.

After lunch, we'll enjoy a boat ride on the Loretoyacu River to observe its rich biodiversity. We'll see Piracu fish, crocodiles, piranhas, anacondas and river dolphins. Once the sun has set, we'll embark on another nocturnal expedition, this time in search of black caimans

Lastly, we'll have dinner and sleep in a cabin on the banks of Lake Tarapoto.

Day 3

After breakfast, with enchanting views of the Lake Tarapoto wetlands, we'll float down the Amazon River by boat for 2 hours to Mocagua. This small community is the perfect setting to learn about the ancestral traditions of Amazonian tribes.

We'll then share a traditional lunch and head to the Mocagua Monkey Sanctuary. This animal recovery center cares for primates rescued from illegal trafficking. You'll be able to see them up close and learn all about their story.

Our day will end with a night's rest in the hotel in Mocagua.

Day 4

The last day of our tour will be spent travelling back to Leticia. After having breakfast in the hotel in Mocagua, we'll start our journey at 7 am or 10 am. Once we've returned to Leticia, we'll say our goodbyes back at the initial meeting point.
