    My experience in Machu Picchu was wonderful. However, it's important to note that it will be a long day, with the majority of the time spent in transit, so be prepared for that aspect of the journey. One small hiccup I encountered was a misunderstanding with the tour company regarding additional fees for an English-speaking tour. When I initially booked, I specifically chose an English tour, would be great for this to be clarified . Tour guide Tomas was great. 100% recommend

Rainbow Mountain, also known as Vinicunca and the Mountain of Seven Colours is a truly unique Andean mountain in Peru, just two hours from Cusco.

Did you know...

The stunning colours of Rainbow Mountain only came to be in 2015, when thick layers of snow and ice melted away to reveal the multi-coloured mountain which had been hidden for centuries.

How to see Rainbow Mountain

With Civitatis, there are lots of ways of seeing Rainbow Mountain: a guided hike, a quad tour or a private day trip from Cusco. The choice is yours!

Before you visit

Check the weather forecast! It's best to visit Rainbow Mountain during the dry season, which is between March and November. Also, be sure to prepare yourself for the altitude—the summit of the mountain is 5200 metres (over 17,000) above sea level. As such, it's a good idea to give your body a couple of days to acclimatise to the altitude of Cusco before making this trip.
