Machu Picchu Day Trip
Machu Picchu Day Trip
We'll pick you up from your hotel in Cuzco to head straight for the train station that will take us to the famed archeological site of Machu Picchu. Let's get to know one of the Seven Wonders of the World!
Take a seat as we settle in for one of the world's most spectacular railway rides, traversing through breathtaking landscapes, as we come to our final destination. As we arrive at Aguas Calientes, we'll board a bus for a short 30-minute ride and before we know it, we'll arrive at the Lost City of the Incas.
As we enter the archeological site, we'll begin our guided visit of Machu Picchu. Full of wonder, mystery, and incredible engineering feats, the site offers various significant landmarks to discover. Along our route, we'll visit several points of interest still standing centuries later, as we dive into the sacred symbolism and mythology behind Inca culture.
Then, after an immersive experience, we'll make the return to Aguas Calientes where you'll have free time to enjoy a classic Peruvian lunch at any local restaurant nearby. Depending on the train schedule, we'll enjoy free time in the village for 2-5 hours.
Finally, we'll return to Cuzco and bring you back to your hotel, arriving anywhere from 14 to 18 hours later.
Types of Train
The excursion to Machu Pichu will be done on 2 different types of trains. When making your booking, you'll be able to choose which one you'd like to travel on.
- Tourist Train: this train has big windows to be able to get a view of the landscape. During the journey, you'll be able to enjoy atmospheric music as well.
- Panoramic Train: this offers a totally panoramic view of the landscape, featuring atmospheric music in the background and recorded commentaries during the trip.
Departure Stations and Transfers
Both departing and returning trains from Cuzco operate from Poroy station (30 minutes from Cuzco) or Ollantaytambo station (1.5 hours from Cuzco) depending on availability. During the rainy season (December to March), Poroy station is closed so we'll travel by bus to Ollantaytambo station. When booking your reservation, we'll send you an email confirmation indicating the exact time of pickup at your hotel and which train station we'll be leaving from.
The transfer times depend on the departure station. From Poroy to Aguas Calientes expect 4 hours, however, from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes, expect 1.5 hours of travel time.

This tour includes the option of hotel pickup from hotels in the historic downtown area of Cuzco between 4-4:30 am. If you're staying in an area farther away, meet us at the Cathedral entrance in Plaza de Armas.
