Terezin Concentration Camp Tour
Terezin Concentration Camp Tour
At the indicated time, we'll meet up at Powder Tower in Prague and set off on a bus toward Terezín.
Once we arrive at our destination, we'll begin exploring the Terezin Fortress, built between 1780 and 1790 by Giuseppe II of Hapsburg. It was then transformed into a concentration camp that was active from 1941 to 1945. Here, we'll visit two important museums which will allow us to delve deep into some of the heartwrenching stories from the camp, the harsh deportation systems, the terrible living conditions, and the many people who died on these grounds.
As we pass through the National Cemetery, we'll enter the Small Fortress, a prison in the Terezín concentration camp where Gavrilo Princip, the bomber of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Habsburg, whose actions provoked the outbreak of World War I, was held and died. Here, we'll take some time for reflection, following the path of the prisoners after their arrival.
We'll visit the registration office, the warehouse, the prisons, the place where the firing squad would execute prisoners, the cemeteries, and the morgue. You'll be accompanied by a knowledgeable, English-speaking guide so you can learn all about the history of this place and its use under the Nazi occupation.
After visiting the concentration camp, we'll return to the starting point in Prague after a total of 7 hours.
