Amsterdam - Bruges Excursion
Amsterdam - Bruges Excursion
The tour departs from Amsterdam city centre at 8:30 am, hitting the road to leave Holland and enter Belgium. Having enjoyed the various landscapes which line our journey by road, the tour arrives in Bruges, which was named a World Heritage Site in the year 2000.
Once in Bruges, the city known as the "Venice of the North", we will make a guided tour departing from the Lake of Love, to discover the history of Belgium and Bruges. From here, we will head to the only preserved beguinage in Bruges and then explore the main streets, squares, canals and monuments of the city. We will see the Burg Square, the town hall, the Church of Our Lady (where the "Madonna of Bruges", masterwork of Michelangelo, can be found), St. Salvator's Cathedral, the Ten Wijngaerde Beguinage (today a Benedictine convent), and much more. The tour comes to an end at the Market Square, with its beautiful bell tower, considered the heart of Bruges.
Having completed the walking tour, you will have three hours free to eat, go shopping, and pass through the centre of Bruges at your own pace. As well as trying the authentic chocolate and Belgian beer, a must-do is to take a boat trip through the canals of Bruges.
Having taken tens of photos, and still amazed by this enchanting city still anchored in its past, we begin the return journey to Amsterdam at 5pm, where we'll arrive around 8:30pm.
